Terms of Service

    These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Schoolar ("Service", "we", "us"), provided via schoolar.in and the related mobile applications. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

    1. Eligibility and accounts

    The Service is intended for use by schools and educational institutions, and by staff, students, and parents associated with those schools. You must be at least 18 years old or supervised by a parent, teacher, or school administrator to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

    2. Subscription and payments

    Schoolar is offered as a subscription with monthly and annual billing cycles. Pricing is shown on the pricing page and may be updated from time to time. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each cycle unless cancelled. Payment is processed through Razorpay; your use of Razorpay is subject to Razorpay's own terms.

    Schools using the Service to collect fees from parents are responsible for the legality and accuracy of those fees. Schoolar is a tool — not the school's accountant or auditor — and the school remains responsible for tax compliance and accounting.

    3. Free trial

    New schools may sign up for a 30-day free trial without entering payment information. After the trial, continued use requires an active paid subscription. Data is retained for 60 days after a cancellation or expired trial so you can export it.

    4. Acceptable use

    You agree not to:

    • Use the Service to send spam, abusive content, or messages to recipients who have not consented
    • Upload or share content that infringes another person's rights or violates applicable law
    • Attempt to access another school's data, reverse-engineer the Service, or interfere with its operation
    • Use the Service to make automated decisions about students or staff that materially affect them, without appropriate human review

    5. Customer data and privacy

    The data your school uploads or generates ("Customer Data") remains yours. We use Customer Data to operate the Service, improve features in ways that do not identify your school or its members, and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy.

    6. Communication channels

    Schoolar provides integrations with WhatsApp Business, SMS providers, and email. The school is responsible for ensuring that messaging recipients have provided the consents required by applicable laws and by those providers' policies. Schoolar may suspend messaging if abuse or non-compliance is detected.

    7. School websites and AI assistant

    Each subscription includes a configurable public school website and an AI assistant. The school is responsible for the content it publishes on its website and for reviewing AI-assistant configurations. AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate; the school should verify before relying on them for material decisions.

    8. Intellectual property

    Schoolar and all related software, design, branding, and documentation are the intellectual property of Schoolar. Your school retains ownership of Customer Data. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service during your subscription.

    9. Service availability

    We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance, third-party outages (cloud, payment, messaging), and force-majeure events may cause interruptions. We do not provide service-credit guarantees on standard plans; enterprise contracts may include separate SLAs.

    10. Termination

    You may cancel your subscription at any time from your billing settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, or use that creates legal or reputational risk. On termination, you may export your Customer Data within 60 days, after which it will be deleted.

    11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

    The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the amount paid by your school to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

    12. Governing law and disputes

    These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the city in which Schoolar is registered.

    13. Changes to these Terms

    We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to the school's primary contact and posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use after such changes constitutes acceptance.
