Online fee collection, powered by Razorpay
Accept UPI, credit/debit cards, net banking, and wallets. Reconcile automatically. Stop chasing parents on the second of the month.
Fee collection is the most stressful operation in most Indian schools. The accountant chases parents at the start of each month. The receipt book gets lost. Three different parents claim they paid in cash. By term-end, reconciliation takes a week. Schoolar's Razorpay integration makes most of this go away — parents pay online when the fee notice arrives, the system reconciles automatically, and the receipt is already in the parent's WhatsApp before they finish dinner.
Every payment instrument Indian parents use
Razorpay is India's largest payments platform. Through Schoolar, parents pay via UPI (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM), credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, Amex), net banking (every major Indian bank), wallets (Paytm, Mobikwik, Freecharge), and EMIs on supported cards. Parents pick the option they're most comfortable with; the school sees one unified ledger.
Zero surcharge on UPI
UPI Collect transactions through Razorpay are typically 0% — the school receives the full fee amount and parents pay only the actual fee. For the 80%+ of Indian school fees that flow via UPI in 2026, this means online fee collection costs the school nothing. Card and net-banking fees are transparent in the dashboard; the school can choose to absorb them or pass them through.
Automatic reconciliation
Payments via Razorpay reconcile automatically against the student's fee record in Schoolar. No manual matching of bank statement entries against fee book stubs. The accountant sees exactly which fee head (tuition, transport, activity) was paid against which student, with the Razorpay payment ID for audit.
GST-compliant receipts, instantly
The moment a payment succeeds, a GST-compliant fee receipt is generated with the school's GSTIN, fee breakup, and Razorpay reference number. The receipt is emailed to the parent, available in the parent app, and shareable via WhatsApp directly from the dashboard. No more lost receipts.
Refunds, partial payments, and installments
Refunds initiated from the Schoolar dashboard reflect in 5-7 business days. Partial payments (parent pays half today, half next month) are tracked as installments and are visible to the accountant and the parent. Late fees can be configured to apply automatically after a grace period.
Settlement to your school's bank account
Razorpay settles to the school's bank account on a T+2 schedule by default. Faster settlements are available on certain plans. Settlement statements are downloadable as Excel exports for accounting reconciliation.
How to enable
Enable Razorpay from the Financial settings in your dashboard. You'll need a Razorpay merchant account in your school's name with KYC completed. If you don't have one, our onboarding team helps you set it up — typically 3-5 business days.
Frequently asked questions
Do parents pay any extra fee on top of the school fee?
On UPI Collect transactions, Razorpay's payment-gateway fee is typically 0%, so parents pay only the actual school fee with no surcharge. For card and net-banking payments, the school can choose to absorb the gateway fee or pass it through transparently.
How long does it take for fees to reach the school's bank account?
Standard Razorpay settlement is T+2 (two business days after the payment). Fast settlements (T+1 or same day) are available on certain plans. The fee shows as paid immediately in Schoolar even before settlement clears.
Are receipts GST-compliant?
Yes. Schoolar generates GST-compliant fee receipts with the school's GSTIN, fee breakup, and payment reference. Receipts are emailed to parents and stored in the parent app for download.
What if a payment fails?
Failed payments are flagged in the Schoolar dashboard with the failure reason. Parents see a clear retry option. Refunds initiated by the school reflect in 5-7 business days.
